Port Stephens MP Kate Washington has facilitated the grants valued from $5000 for audio visual equipment up to $42,200 for school hall air conditioning.
“I’m so pleased to be able to support these incredible local community groups with this grassroots funding,” Ms Washington said.
“The grants will deliver new community infrastructure across Port Stephens and help pay for much-needed improvements to our local schools, preschools, sporting clubs and community organisations.”
The funding is provided to local community groups to assist in their important work delivering positive social, environmental and recreational outcomes.
The grants also span a wide geographical area including Raymond Terrace, Medowie, Tanilba Bay, Nelson Bay, Salamander Bay, Anna Bay, Hinton, and Hawks Nest.
Who receives what:
- $20,000 – Nelson Bay Croquet Club. ‘Keeping senior citizens Active in Port Stephens
- $20,278 – Birubi Point Community Preschoool. Security fencing.
- $40,000 – Port Stephens Community Arts Centre Trust. Extension to the woodworker’s shed.
- $18,569 – Tanilba Bay Primary School P & C Association. Hands on community and learning area.
- $20,000 – Port Stephens Cricket Club. Purchase of New Mentay 2000 cricket pitch roller.
- $10,000 – NSW SES Port Stephens Unit. Community sandbagging facility.
- $31,815 – PCYC. Bathroom blitz for females.
- $8000 – Salamander Child Care Centre. Outdoor covered learning area.
- $8286 – Medowie Public School P&C. Happy Healthy Kids.
- $42,200 – Irrawang High School – Purchase and installation of air conditioning for school community hall.
- $30,950 – Medowie Tennis Club – Refurbishment of court three and fence line renewal.
- $10,500 – Hinton and District Tennis Club – Book a court system.
- $6000 – Shoal Bay Public School P&C Association. Library refurbishment.
- $5000 – Hawks Nest Bridge Club. Audio visual equipment for community arts and cultural organisations.
- $11,948 – Irrawang Public School P&C. Upgrading Thou Walla Centre.
- $16,454 – Raymond Terrace and Districts Historical Society. Sketchley Pioneer Cottage kitchen upgrade.
“I congratulate all the successful recipients and I look forward to working alongside them to see this funding make a positive difference to our local area,” Ms Washington said.
“Since I was elected, I’ve been pleased to provide approximately $900,000 in community grants across Port Stephens to improve local infrastructure.”
“There was a large amount of competition this year between many worthy project. To those groups who were not successful this year, I encourage them to apply again next year.”
Ms Washington said community groups that desired such grants were welcome to speak with her.
“I will try to assist in any way I can,” she said.
