Visitors to Seaham Park will have noticed a continual improvement of facilities in recent years that now includes a new car park and access road.

These latest additions are the result of a joint effort between volunteers, business and government.
The Seaham Park and Wetlands Committee supporters raised $11,500 that was supplemented with a $3000 grant and $7000 in materials and labor from Port Stephens Council.
Elbourne Plant Hire donated the plant equipment and operators, while Boral East Seaham quarry donated the road base.
The state government also made a $5000 grant toward the project.
“Local community and government effort at both the local and state level achieved this project. Without such support a small community group could not achieve such outcomes,” Pre McGee of the Seaham Park and Wetlands Committee said.
Parliamentary Secretary for the Hunter Scot MacDonald MLC said it was an example of great community collaboration and generosity that reduced the cost of the project by approximately $25,000.
“The interior roads to Seaham Park have been damaged by heavy vehicles, flooding and local run off and needed upgraded drainage and tar sealing” Mr MacDonald said.
“I congratulate the Seaham Park and Wetlands Committee for their sustained commitment to the Park including their advocacy requesting assistance from the NSW Government.”
West ward councillor Ken Jordan said it was a quality result.
“The volunteers on the Committee have worked hard over the last few years to deliver one of the best parks in Port Stephens,” he said.
“They worked with Boral Quarry, Elbourne Earth Moving and Port Stephens Council to deliver a new Park entry and car parking area.”
