To simplify the intersection of Lemon Tree Passage Road with the Avenue of the Allies and Poilus Parade, Success Street will be closed permanently.
The council said residents had backed the move during the consultation phase for the roundabout.

“While discussing the design of the new roundabout with the community, it was suggested that closing the intersection of Success Street and Lemon Tree Passage Road may be a better option,” the council’s civil projects engineer Rick Mr Mackenzie said.
“It was agreed that closing Success Street would reduce through-vehicle traffic to make it safer for residents and motorists.
“Plus, it also means that less vegetation adjacent to Raf Park needs to be removed, as Success Street no longer needs to be realigned to join up to Lemon Tree Passage Road.”
Success Street will be permanently close at the intersection of Lemon Tree Passage Road from Monday, May 21. Motorists will still be able to access Success Street via President Wilson Walk.
Mr Mackenzie said it was a win all round.
“It’s great to see council and the community working together to get the best outcome for local residents,” he said.
“The construction of the new roundabout at Lemon Tree Passage Road is progressing well and is expected to be completed by early August, depending on the weather.
“I want to thank motorists for their patience during the construction period.”
