Electro-soul shakers Boo Seeka will play at the Shoal Bay hotel on July 13 as they continue to promote their debut album Never Too Soon.
Brett Rexy from Shoal Bay Country Club said Boo Seeka would be the first act to perform as part of a new Friday night live music slot.
“Something we’re trying now is some Triple J style acts on Fridays,” he said. “It’s keeping to a younger market that suits best for Fridays. Saturdays we’ll have the usual style bands.”
Since undergoing a $6 million refurbishment and re-opening in March, the hotel has played host to a number of high calibre bands and performers such as Thirsty Merc, The Radiators, Mental As Anything, Thundamentals and James Blundell.
The hotel’s July 19 show for Pete Murray has been sold out for months.
Other acts set to perform at the hotel this year include Jon Stevens (August 30), Daryl Braithwaite (September 1), Shannon Noll (November 10) and The Animals (November 13).
Boo Seeka, an electronic hip hop duo made up of Ben Gumbleton and Sam Croft, made waves when in 2015 their debut song Kingdom Leader peaked at number six on the Australian iTunes electronic chart.
To date, the duo have accumulated more than 11 million Spotify streams and dominated national airwaves with their singles Oh My, Deception Bay and Fool.
Never Too Soon was released in August 2017.
“This album best reflects our recent life experiences, encapsulating all we've encountered over the past two and a half years,” Croft said. “Our recording process for the album followed no structure.
“We recorded vocals in carparks, tour buses and our studios in Sydney. One vocal loop was recorded into an iPhone on stage in a theatre in America.
“Ultimately every idea and piece of music we had come together in my bedroom studio, we then took it to our producer Ian Pritchett's garage studio and that's where the songs came to life.”
Boo Seeka are known for their infectious live performances, some of which have included shows at Groovin’ The Moo, Splendour In the Grass, Party in the Paddock, The Great Escape (UK) and SXSW (USA).
Tickets to see Boo Seeka in Shoal Bay on July 13 cost $23.50 (including booking fee).
The Examiner has two double passes (one pass contains two general admission tickets) to the show. Doors open at 8pm. This is an 18 and over aged event.
