Inside the Port, Corlette champion, Richard Crake wrestled a thumping dusky flathead up the beach at Roy Wood Reserve.

The Nelson Bay breakwall is red hot as luderick and bream go haywire. Every year that I can recall the breakwall has loaded up with beautifully conditioned fish around this time. The wall is a fishing gold mine.
The beaches are alive with bream, tailor, whiting and the odd mulloway. Best spots are Stockton, Samurai and Fingal. Pipis are great bait for just about anything.
Off the rocks, snapper have been reported from Fingal to Rocky Point along with bream, drummer, kingfish, groper and tailor.
Make sure that you wear a safety vest and don’t consider taking the kids rock fishing. Keep an eye on the sea at all times.
