Port Stephens music lovers will have the opportunity to see legendary English rock band The Animals when the group tours to Shoal Bay Country Club in November.
Founding member and drummer John Steel will be joined by Mick Gallagher, the band’s original keyboardist, Danny Handley on guitar and vocals and Roberto Ruiz on bass and vocals, as they perform the hits that have kept The Animals going strong for more than 50 years including House of the Rising Sun, It’s My Life, We Gotta Get Out Of This Place, Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood and Don’t Bring Me Down.
The Animals were one of the most important British bands of the 1960s.
The group, formed in Newcastle Upon Tyne in the United Kingdom, is widely considered to be the raunchiest, dirtiest, most authentic and uncompromisingly raw band of their time.
The Animals' career took off in January 1964. With the release of House of the Rising Sun, The Animals became the first British group after the Beatles to chart a number one single in the US.
The Animals followed House of the Rising Sun with seven more massive hits which remain classics of the era.
The band will head to Shoal Bay for a show at the country club on Tuesday, November 13.
Since undergoing a $6 million refurbishment and re-opening in March, the hotel has played host to a number of high calibre bands and performers such as Thirsty Merc, The Radiators, Mental As Anything, Thundamentals and James Blundell.
The hotel’s July 19 show for Pete Murray has been sold out for months.
Other acts set to perform at the hotel this year include Jon Stevens (August 30), Daryl Braithwaite (September 1) and Shannon Noll (November 10).
Doors to The Animals show open at 8pm.
Tickets to see The Animals in Shoal Bay, available online from metropolistouring.com, cost $55 per person.
