Just like mullet that travel north along our coastline, luderick follow the same path along the beaches and into the ports and rivers. The first stop for the fish are the rocky outcrops on Birubi Beach. Covered in a rich growth of sea cabbage the Birubi rocks provide the first feed after the long swim along Stockton Beach.
Next stop is Boat Harbour then Fishermans Bay followed by Middle Rock, Rocky Point, Boulder Bay and Fingal Head. The westerly wind continually pushes schools of luderick into protected corners along the foreshore where they rest and feed. They round Tomaree Headland and gather along the Torpedo Tube before continuing on to the Little Beach Jetty and then to the Nelson Bay breakwall.
