The Bay defeated East Maitland in the district final 78 shots to 49 after finishing in a three-way play-off with Soldiers Point and Teralba in its group pointscore event.
Nelson Bay was declared the winner on a count back before going on to easily account for the East Maitland club.
Team member Bill Gainsford said that the consecutive victories were a result of excellent team play and consistency.
“We had nine of the 12 bowlers backing up this year, which gives the team plenty of experience as we prepare for the state championships later this month,” he said.
“Last year we made it to the semi-finals, so this year we are hoping to improve on that result.”
Nelson Bay has the added bonus of hosting the No. 6 state championship over the weekend of August 17-19.
Bowls coordinator Richard Girvan said the best 16 district teams will converge onto the Nelson Bay greens, starting with section matches on Friday and Saturday and concluding with the finals on Sunday.
“We are expecting large crowds to attend the games over the three days,” he said.
The Bay team consists of: W. Gainsford, T. Bolton, P. Bootland. G. Lewis, D. McCann, D. Gowland, J. Baylis, P. Roulstone, D. Allen, R. Aldred, A, Stewart and G. Harrison.
