Not only that, but younger generations have also been touched by the music of Fleetwood Mac – exposed to the songs through their parents or grabbed by the lyrics when played on radio.
Gary Stewart and Ursula Cain’s love for Fleetwood Mac lead them to establishing a tribute show in 2000.
“I grew up listen to Fleetwood Mac music because both my mum and dad loved them and often played their songs,” Cain said.
“This rubbed off onto me and when I started playing in a band at 16 years of age, friends loved the couple of Fleetwood songs we did.
“We added more and more Fleetwood songs and a few years ago we decided to put together a tribute to this awesome band and the rest was history.”
Cain is the lead singer for the Australian Fleetwood Mac Show – Running in the Shadows. Her vocal delivery authentically reproduces the part of Stevie Nicks when she was at her artistic best.
Cain not only has the sound but with her long blonde hair also looks the part.
Stewart is on acoustic guitar and keyboard.
Running In The Shadows sees eight people on stage preforming an all live show. There are no pre-recording backing tracks of vocals used. The show celebrates the legendary band Fleetwood Mac.
All their hits from early music of Peter Green, to Rumours, Tango in the Night as well as some of Stevie Nicks’ solo career are performed including Rhiannon, Little Lies, Don’t Stop, Go Your own Way, Second Hand News, Gold Dust Woman, You Make Loving Fun and Dreams.
The tribute group also cover songs from Fleetwood Mac’s most recent album. The show is set to a dramatic background of moody lighting and outstanding effects.
“Getting compliments from audience members saying we are the best Fleetwood Mac show they have seen and heard makes it all worthwhile,” Cain said. “At our shows the place goes off with audience members singing along to the songs and they often out power the band. It’s a great buzz.”
Fleetwood Mac – Running In The Shadows will perform at Soldiers Point Bowling Club on Saturday, August 25 at 8pm.
Tickets, available from the club or by phoning (02) 4982 7173, cost $25 per person.
