The school’s fund-raising cracker night returns to Nelsons Plains this year on Saturday, August 25.
About 1500 people turned out to last year's cracker night, which also features rides, stalls and live entertainment.
“Last year’s event was a huge success,” Juliet Thomas, treasurer of the school’s P&C said. “The cracker night is a big draw card.
“You don’t really see many fireworks events now. You usually have to wait for a big event. To have one in the community like this, families just love it.”
After 21 years, the cracker night went on a short hiatus. Unable to hold the event at the school, the P&C of the 32-student school, which organises the event, went hunting for a new location.
Unable to find one, the group tried a number of different fundraising events including a music night and hoedown.
The cracker night returned with a bang last year and the P&C is anticipating another big, successful night.
The cracker night will be held at 600 Seaham Road, Nelson Plains from 3pm.
“We had a generous offer from someone in the community to use their property in Nelsons Plains for the cracker night,” Ms Thomas said. “They’re allowing us to use it again this year.”
Country music star Troy Kemp will provide the live entertainment this year. The fireworks start at 8pm.
Tickets, on sale now through trybooking.com, cost $25 for a family of five, $12 per adult, $8 for seniors or pensioners and $5 per child under 18. Ride passes, starting at $30, are also on sale.
Limited tickets will be available at the gate on the day. Pre-purchasing tickets and ride passes is encouraged.
More information can be found on the Mount Kanwary School P&C Facebook page.
The school’s Year 6 students will be collection donations for the Buy a Bale drought appeal during the cracker night.
