A total of nine recipients for the prestigious Pride of Workmanship and Community Service awards were the highlight of the Rotary Club of Salamander Bay meeting conducted last month.

Pride of Workmanship awards seek to promote those workers who, in the eyes of their employers, show a distinct quality in their approach, attitude and dedication to their job.
Alex Munzer, from Nelson Bay, a junior mortgage broker with Leah Anderson & Associates, is studying for a diploma in finance, has taken on the challenging role of Tomaree Business Chamber treasurer.
Celeste Powell, from Salamander Bay, works and volunteers in the community in many allied health support roles and dreams of making a documentary interviewing indigenous children in the Northern Territory.
Michelle Weber, from Salamander Bay, works in the tourism industry and is on the wedding committee for Destination Port Stephens.
Anna Bay’s Belinda Johnson started Anna Bay Microgreens as a means to bring a specialty product to the wider hospitality industry and she is involved in the Dara Van, which helps feed local homeless people.
Manida Harris, 51, from Soldiers Point, has diligently worked at the Sanook Restaurant in Corlette for 14 years and is a very loyal, hard-working, reliable and dedicated team member.
In addition, four individuals were recognised for their volunteer efforts with a Community Service Award.
Daniel Lopez, from Salamander Bay, has a love of drawing which has seen his artwork featured at the horse trials for Riding for the Disabled. He is a volunteer for Port Stephens Community Transport.
Amy Fuller, of Nelson Bay, has been assisting people to be healthier, happier and fitter. She achieves this by assisting people to exercise, lose weight, gain muscle strength, gain confidence, and increasing their knowledge of good nutrition.
Corlette’s Lauren Chircop was inspired by her 13-year-old daughter’s desire to help poor people in Africa. Between them, they raised enough money to make a visit to Arusha before returning to Australia to start a small wellness business.
Anna Webster, from Soldiers Point, has been instrumental in forming an Artisan Collective in Nelson Bay and has started a project called “Dress Up Nelson Bay”.
