Children will be the benefactors of a new initiative being adopted by the Port’s three VIEW (Voice, Interests and Education of Women) clubs of Nelson Bay, Raymond Terrace and Tilligerry.

Moe than 100 ladies recently joined together to celebrate the Nelson Bay club’s spring luncheon held at Soldiers Point Bowling Club.
Guest speaker Anne-Louise O’Connor, the national councillor for Hunter/Central Coast, spoke about the wonderful work all three clubs are doing to support the Learning for Life program.
“Nelson Bay, Raymond Terrace and Tilligerry VIEW clubs sponsor a total of 17 Learning for Life students, giving these children an opportunity, through education, to achieve their dreams,” Ms O’Connor said.
“In conjunction with the Smith Family, these students are undertaking programs that can assist them with their reading, maths and writing skills.”
VIEW is a valued part of The Smith Family and supports disadvantaged young Australians to get the most out of their education.
The national network aims to empowers women to have their voices heard on issues of importance for the future well-being of Australians.
It is also unique in that it is the only national women’s organisation solely focused on supporting and advocating for disadvantaged Australian children in need, through supporting the work of children’s charity The Smith Family.
Presentations were also made at the luncheon to members Pauline Orr for 50 years of dedicated service to VIEW and Fay Tranter for 40 years’ service.
