To support drought-stricken farmers, the shopping centre’s owner, Charter Hall, has partnered with Rural Aid for the Dam Good campaign.
As part of this campaign, country music singers from Port Stephens and Newcastle have performed in the centre for donations.
All donations, made to the Dam Good barrel in front of the performance area, go to the campaign and Rural Aid.
Charter Hall has vowed to match the donations made to the campaign, which is running at centres across Australia, up to the value of $115,000.
The target is to raise $230,000 – which includes the donation value and Charter Hall’s promised dollar-for-dollar donation to match what shoppers contribute.
Charter Hall has said funds raised will be released to nearing rural communities.
The campaign kicked off in Salamander Bay on September 13 and will wrap up on Saturday, September 22.
The country music artists perform outside Woolworths between 11am and 2pm.
Artists such as Lee J Collier, Lothar Nowak, Meryl Reinhard and Bec Anne are some of the performers who have joined the Dam Good campaign.
