The aim of the visit was to explore ways of strengthening the sister city relationship by expanding cultural, educational and tourism exchanges.
The delegation comprised of Yoshinori Hayatoh, president of the Yugawara International Exchange Association, town councillor Seiichi Tsuchiya and Tadashi Takahashi, the superintendent of the Yugawara Board of Education.
The delegation was briefed about the Port Stephens economy, visited schools, the Murrook Cultural Centre, and were shown tourism attractions.
They also laid flowers at the grave of former mayor and MP John Bartlett, who founded the Port Stephens Sister Cities Committee 30 years ago and is highly respected in Japan.
