The Raymond Terrace Scout Group are offering to paint kerb wings and the entrance strip on driveways around the town.
“We had three goals in mind when setting out to do this,” Scout leader John Doyle said.
“This is partially about fund-raising for the Scout group but it’s also about safety and showing people Scouts is still alive and well in Raymond Terrace.
“We want to help improve safety. Some of the driveways are hard to see in the dark. We also wanted to get the Scouts more involved in their community and more safety conscious.”
The Scouts did a trial run last week in Benjamin Lee Drive, opposite Chifley Drive.
They have use white concrete paint to make the front strip and wings either side of the driveway more prominent.
“This will make the drive visible on dark or rainy nights and make access onto the drive much easier and safer,” Mr Doyle said.
The Scouts are charging any resident interested in having the kerb wings painted $15 and $25 for the kerb wings and the drive on strip for a standard, 3 metre long driveway.
For a double driveway, about 6m in length, the price for the kerb wings and drive on strip to be painted is $35.
For anything wider, the price can be negotiated.
Anyone interested in having their driveway painted is asked to contact Raymond Terrace Scout Group leader Dennis Mountain on (02) 4987 5507 or John Doyle on (02) 4987 3841.
Mr Doyle can also be contacted by call or text message on 0412 539 200.
