An unprecedented 176 players took part in the event, which included 30 bowlers from the Central Coast who decided to extend their stay in Port Stephens in order to participate on the day.
Organiser Richard Girvan said the greens were buzzing with excitement from start to finish.
“This was our seventh annual Men of League bowls day and it gets bigger and better every year,” he said.
“As always the bowls was played in friendly, light-hearted fashion and the volunteer help from the Men of League committee and club staff and members was fantastic.”
The highlight of the day for most people were the guest speakers funnyman and former NRL player John ‘Bomber’ Peard and the oldest man to swim the English Channel Cyril Baldock.
Bowls section winners were Ellie and Kerry Dumbrell with Anna-Marie and Damien Kroek, while the non-bowlers section winners were Rosemary Kelly, David Gilday and Cheryl and Alby Lawrence.
