On Thursday, October 27 Tomaree Public School sent two teams of Year 6 students to participate and compete in the Port Stephens Science and Discovery Day.

The day was held at Tomaree High School and run by the University of Newcastle in conjunction with Rotary.
Students worked in small groups, using their collaboration skills to design, create, test and problem solve their ways through a variety of challenges.
“It was fantastic to see our students enthusiastically engaging in the activities and gaining so much from their learning, by experimenting and ‘doing’,” classroom teacher Michelle Donovan said.
“And to top it all off, out of nine teams who competed from the Port Stephens area, Tomaree Public School won the competition, which made it an extremely exciting end to a marvellous day.”
The following day, September 28, Tomaree Public School students supported drought stricken farmers by dressing up as farmer for a day.
Students were asked to wear clothing to mimic a farmer. Anyone who dressed like a farmer donated a gold coin. Money raised on the day, $510, was donated to Buy A Bale.
