Opening on November 3, the Lovely Bones exhibition will include all types of bones and anatomical pieces including shells and skulls.
Artisan Collective member Janet Mackintosh said the new exhibition, which coincides with Tastes at the Bay food, wine and jazz festival, is different from what it has done before.
“The exhibition is based on the premise of the Day of the Dead, which is actually Friday, November 2,” Mrs Mackintosh said.
“It came about after a group discussion on the festival.”
The exhibition will feature works from Artisan Collective members in a wide range of mediums such as illustrations, yupo, painting, mosaic, photography and pottery.
Bay candlemaker Suzanne Blakestone has created skull candles for the exhibition.
It will be launched on November 3 between 12pm and 3pm.
On November 17 the exhibition will move from the Artisan Collective’s gallery at d’Albora Marina in Nelson Bay to Evviva Cafe and Bar in Stockton Street.
The gallery is open Thursday to Monday 10am to 5pm.
The Artisan Collective has been together since October 2016.
It is a community-led initiative that celebrates artists and their creations.
The collective has operated out of the marina since December 2017.
