Starting at 10.30am on Saturday and Sunday morning the Kitchen offers an up close opportunity for visitors keen to fine tune their culinary skills and see the professionals in action, hosted by Paul Miranda.
SATURDAY
- 10.30am – Ludovic Poyer from The Poyer’s – Smoked Market Fish with Gribiche Sauce.
- 11.45am – Connie Griffiths from Tranquil Vale Vineyard – Sourdough Making.
- 1.00pm – Ben Way from Little Beach Boathouse – Local King Prawn and Smoked Salmon Roulade.
- 2.15pm – Stephen Daley from In House Kitchen and Bay Cooking School – Marinades and Spices.
- 3.15pm – Alesha Thompson (madam Cocoa) – Chocolate Making.
- 4.15pm – Close.
SUNDAY
- 10.30am – Anna-Mara Lauricella from Sienna’s Pizzeria Bar & Restaurant –Nonna’s Meatballs.
- 11.15am – Alesha Thompson (Madam Cocoa) – Chocolate Making.
- 12.30pm – Michael Jenkins from the Anchorage – Local Rock Oysters Three Ways: with Crab, fennel and Mignonette.
- 1.15pm – Ben Way from Little Beach Boathouse – Salad of local blueswimmer crab and whipped brie, whitlof, candied almond and brown butter dressing.
- 2.30pm – Connie Griffiths from Tranquil Vale Vineyard – Sourdough Making.
- 3.30pm – Close.
The cooking demonstrations will take place in the new Yacaaba Street extension.
Wine tasting tokens can be purchased for either $5, $10 or $20 – sample your selection with a tasting glass for 1 token or purchase by the glass for for 3 tokens.
Visitors will also have the chance to win the grand prize of 2 return flights to Auckland ex Newcastle with thanks to Newcastle Airport and Virgin Airlines.

There is also 2 nights accommodation at Bannisters Port Stephens home to Rick Steins restaurant up for grabs. Entries must be dropped off at one of the information desks during the weekend.
With a fine weekend expected, event organiser Anita Hutchinson and marketing manager Chontelle Grecian are hoping to see record crowds head to the bay and indulge in a weekend of delights.
Tastes at the Bay opens with a winemakers dinner on Friday, November 2 at Nelson Bay Golf Club.
The festival opens at 10am on Saturday, November 3 and closes on Sunday, November 4 at 4.30pm.
