Colleen Mulholland, Centre Manager at Marketplace Place Raymond Terrace has known Sharon for the ten years since her florist shop first opened it’s doors and says that it’s her relentless sense of community spirit that she is best known for among residents and businesses alike.
“Sharon is very active in the community and is always at the forefront of fund raising and supporting local initiatives where she can.
“Not only that, she puts so much thought into her work and the impact her bouquets will have on each recipient, she truly is a special person.” Says Colleen.
There’s countless moments, says Colleen, when members of the community have lost loved ones or faced difficult times and Sharon has not only worked to provide the best product possible but often taken it upon herself to hand deliver bouquets.
“She spreads compassion and caring through her flowers but also in the way in which she goes the extra mile.”
“We have experienced her kindness first hand when a senior member of staff and friend was diagnosed with prostate cancer. Sharon noticed the name on the card and so she delivered the flowers to the hospital herself.
“Not only that, she presented me with a pamper-pack. She instinctively understands that it’s often the people around love ones that face difficulty too. Those touches are what sets her apart from so many other businesses.
“It’s something that comes natural to Sharon – thinking of others and sharing in their emotion, that is quite a rare thing.”
It’s possibly the key to her success and longevity in an industry that is becoming increasingly harder to thrive in. From the joy each and every window display at the store brings, to her heartfelt support for her community and a cause, it seems a fitting place for the much loved florist.
“I can’t imagine her doing anything else – it’s like the perfect career for her.”
