John Steel, Mick Gallagher, Danny Handley and Roberto Ruiz delivered an energetic show filled with all of The Animals’ greatest hits.
“They really wound back the clock, playing a typically iconic rhythm and blues rock set they’ve become world famous for,” Peter Lazarus, Shoal Bay Country Club’s marketing manager, said.
“It was great to see founding member and drummer John Steel joined by Mick Gallagher, the band’s original keyboardist.
“Crowd favourites We Gotta Get out of this Place and closing with The House of the Rising Sun certainly got the dedicated crowd going.”
It came three days after Shannon Noll tore up the stage as part of his Unbroken tour.
Shoal Bay Country Club also held a launch for its new convention centre and wedding venue, called Whitesands, on Tuesday evening.
The space features state-of-the-art facilities, fully-equipped kitchen and two bars dedicated to catering for small and large groups.
The country club’s in-house catering team, led by executive chef Atick Elahi, works alongside function staff to compliment the convention centre and Whitesands’ state of the art facilities.
No expense has been spared on technology which caters for high quality audio, visual and lighting requirements.
“We believe Port Stephens had a need for a facility with the aim of bringing people together,” Mr Lazarus said.
“Whether that be for a wedding, conference, function or event, our aim is to be able to accommodate for all types of occasions.
“With the neighbouring Ramada providing quality accommodation, numerous activities nearby, and of course our location, it really is a premium spot which we are very grateful for.”
A free wedding showcase will be held at the new Whitesands venue on November 25.
