Send your Elf on the Shelf ideas and photos to the Port Stephens Examiner

At the start of December mischievous elves come out to play in homes across Port Stephens.

In the lead-up to Christmas the Elf on the Shelf is a toy sent to children’s homes to report back to Santa on who has been naughty or nice.

While the cheeky little elves have a job to do, it seems they also like getting up to mischief along the way.

Is there an elf at your house? Or perhaps you have a great Elf on the Shelf idea you want to share? Send in your ideas and photos to ellie-marie.watts@fairfaxmedia.com.au.

Some ideas to get you started:

1. Elf reads a story to dolls

2. Elf in fridge

3. Elf plays in cotton ball 'snow'

4. Elf sips some hot chocolate to warm up (or perhaps a cool beverage - this is Australia after all)

5. Elf packs kids' lunch

6. Elf in the Christmas tree

7. Elf in a toy car
