Members of the Salamander Bay-based Him Do Tae Kwon Do Academy have returned home from the 2018 Pan Pacific Masters Games with a swag of medals.

The martial arts exponents competed in a range of different events, including teams, pairs and individuals in the patterns, board breaking power and technical breaking, self-defence and sparring.
In addition to Master Ronald Bergan, other academy members to compete included Peter Hallett, Liz Bergan, David Kilroy, Adrian Hill, Terry Dawson and Nick Hall.
“This was the most medals our academy has won in all our years of competition,” Bergan said. “Over the two days it was non-stop with our team exhausting every part of their energy right down to their final events. This was our last event for the year and members will now focus on their mid-December gradings.
“We had two members that have not competed at this level competition before, there where international competitors from other countries and more than 130 competitors ages from 35–85 years old.”
