The bushfire started on Monday evening near Mariner Crescent, just behind the Salamander Bay shopping centre and started to spread about 6.30pm.
It was a tough night for crews as a number of properties came under ember attack along Foreshore Drive and Sandy Point Drive. Residents were told to take direction from firefighters on the ground and the fire was upgraded to watch and act.
Crews were able to protect homes and started back-burning. The fire was downgraded to advice level at 5am Tuesday.
The fire has burnt to established containment lines, reducing the threat to properties in the area. Conditions are easing, however residents should continue to monitor conditions and take advice from firefighters on the ground.
