The aim of the project was to promote learning opportunities about Aboriginal culture and for participants to develop skills in contemporary dot art painting.
The program was open to Indigenous and non-Indigenous students, taught by Loraine Oldham through the company Red Ochre.
Loraine is a Thungutti woman from Kempsey and now lives in Wallsend
Her daughter, Tre, assisted with the lessons on December 14.
Participants from all corners of the community – the elderly, retirees, professionals, family groups, school kids, teenagers, men and women, people with disability – attended the workshop, which also included an exhibition of Aboriginal art.
Not only was it a chance to learn some new skills but for participants to make new friends.
The project was supported by a 2017-2018 Port Stephens Council grant.
