Medowie Cricket Club will get back into the swing of the season this weekend with a pink stumps day.

In the first round for the new year, the Medowie club’s D3 team will don pink on Saturday and face Cardiff RSL Cricket Club in a fund-raising game to support the McGrath Foundation.
The January 5 game will be played at No. 1 Yulong Oval in Medowie from 1.30pm.
It is expected to wrap up about 5.30pm.
Pink stumps and balls will be used for the game.
All are welcome to head along to support the team and the cause.
There will be a sausage sizzle and cold drinks available for purchase throughout the afternoon as well as a variety a small sweet treats.
There will also be McGrath Foundation hats, bandanas, wristbands and other items for sale.
Small donation boxes will be placed around the field.
All proceeds collected on the day will go to the McGrath Foundation.
Pink stumps day is a McGrath Foundation initiative that raises money to place McGrath Breast Care Nurses in communities across Australia.
The Medowie team will be eager to claim victory over Cardiff on Saturday.
Medowie trail Cardiff by one point in the Newcastle City and Suburban Cricket Association D3 grade standings.
Across the road at Ferodale Oval on Saturday Medowie Cricket Club’s B3 team will face the Jewells Tavern Beavers from 1.30pm.
Medowie sit third on the B3 ladder ahead of Jewells which is in sixth position.
Medowie’s D4 and D5 grade teams have a bye this weekend.
