At this meeting Lee Anlezark, who has been the president of the Tomaree Parkinson’s Support Group for 10 years, and Trevor Babore, the treasurer for the last seven years, will stand down.
“This is the 10th year I have been president of the group and have persistently enforced a message of optimism and hope with symptom reversal being possible,” Mr Anlezark said. “I will continue to attend the group activities and help where possible. This change will give me the opportunity to focus more on my 24/7 recovery program.
“Bob Crampton has stepped up to serve as president of the group. He brings 14 years of experience as a Parkinson’s carer. It is time for new blood. A new perspective. I have done what I can... focusing on nutrition, keeping the group active and in touch and being focused on improving symptoms.”
Mr Crampton paid homage to Mr Anlezark and Mr Babore’s service to the group.
“Trevor and Lee have contributed a considerable amount in making this a successful support group,” he said. “Their dedication to this important support group is bought about by the fact that both men have been diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease.”
A new committee will be elected during the January 17 meeting.
The guest speaker will be Jess Conneely from Dance for Parkinson’s Australia. Ms Conneely will deliver a presentation to give an insight into what the dancing program is all about.
Meetings are held in the Waratah Room at Tomaree Community Centre next to the library at Salamander Bay. It will start at 1pm. The group’s exercise program will begin once the meeting ends.
