The volunteer rescue organisation has had a busy summer helping many stranded vessels in the bay and outside the heads.
“Our radio room has been logging on boats and monitoring the air waves for any problems 24/7,” unit member Peter Young said. “As a full volunteer organisation we rely on contributions from the general public to be able to give this service.”
Members of the unit will have a tent set up in Fly Point Park on Saturday to provide information to the community about water and boat safety and to raise funds.
Unit members will be selling raffle tickets for an Australia Day hamper, to be drawn on site in the afternoon.
Children are encouraged to join in with a free colouring competition on the day. They can pick up a picture from the tent, colour it in on site (pencils will be supplied) and submit it. The first picture drawn out 2pm will win a fishing rod and reel donated by BCF Taylors Beach.
