The game fishing season is in full swing with early reports of dolphinfish from Beresfield visitor Troy Parrot, who targeted the northern edge of the local reef system known as ‘The Car Park’ on board ‘Sneaky Pete’.

With the water a bathtub 27.5 degrees, Troy landed a 15 kilogram dolphinfish and the crew caught six striped tuna and tagged a 60 kilogram black marlin.
Fishing reports are rolling in thick and fast as the water temperature continues to rise and bait fish gather.
I motored out in front of the Fingal Light through the week in “Stinkpot”, where berleyed up with bread and was immediately surrounded by acres of slimy mackerel, some were the biggest I have seen.
Bonito and tailor joined in preventing my bait from sinking below the surface. When the bait did sink I caught three snapper.
Stockton Beach is going off with thumping whiting over the mystical 40 centimetres bouncing up the beach. Best bait is a savage sea worm.
Inside the Port flathead are in excellent numbers right throughout the system. Local champion David Shipsey bagged his first off Taylors Beach.
Shoal Bay and Nelson Bay beaches are worth an early morning try on a rising tide.
