Raymond Terrace Little Athletics Centre members have made another strong impression, earning personal best times and a string of medals, at the regional championships held recently at the Hunter Sports Centre in Glendale.

Terrace athletes won a total of 41 individual medals made up of 12 gold, 14 silver and 15 bronze, with the senior girls and junior girls relay teams taking out silver medals.
The sole record breaker was Keira McGregor in the under 13 years 100m sprint.
Hundreds of athletes from the ages of nine to 17 from 36 little athletics centres that encompasses the zones across the Port Hunter, Hunter, Lake Macquarie and Central Coast took part in the carnival.
The first two place-getters in each of the events automatically qualify for the state championships, with the next best eight athletes from all eight NSW regions also qualifying.
Terrace medal winners were:
Under 9: Kaydence Hostler – bronze shot put; under 11 Dixie Conlon – gold 60m hurdles and triple jump, silver long jump, bronze 200m, Evie Purukamu – bronze javelin, Ashlyn Wall – gold 800m, silver 1500m and high jump.
Under 12: Sienna Newton – gold long jump, silver – 60m hurdles, Amelia Said – silver discus, Hayden Clarke – silver javelin; Under 13 Keira McGregor – gold 100m (new record), 200m and long jump, silver triple jump, Dulshan Heenkenda – bronze 400m, 800m and 1500m.
Under 14: Ebony Newton – gold 100m, 200m and 200m hurdles, Harper Collins - bronze 100m, 200m and long jump, Cody Hancock – silver 90m hurdles and long jump, bronze triple jump; Under 15 Alana Pisch – gold 300m hurdles, silver 60m hurdles, Jai Holland – bronze 1500m.
Under 17: Baylee Holland - silver 800m, bronze 400m, Nathan Swan – silver 300m hurdles, Lachlan Atkins – bronze shot put, Ben Edstein – silver 3000m, Thomas Bray – silver triple jump, bronze 110m hurdles, Liam Fairweather – bronze long jump, Jack Kenny – gold Javelin.
Junior girls relay: silver Halo Atkin (under 10), Kaydence Hostler (under 9), Sienna Newton (under 12), Dixie Conlon (under 11); Senior girls relay – silver Alana Pisch (under 15), Keira McGregor (under 13), Baylee Holland (under 17), Ebony Newton (under 14).
The haul comes after 15 Raymond Terrace athletes bagged a total of 22 medals at the annual NSW Country Championships conducted at the Hunter Sports Centre Glendale during the Australia Day long weekend.
McGregor, who secured a gold in the under 14s 100m at the country championships, went one better at regionals to break the event record.
The state championships will be held at Sydney Olympic Park, Homebush, on the weekend of March 16 and 17. This will mark the official end of the athletics season.
