Ms Clarke is an artist, painter, illustrator and teacher who enjoys many art disciplines, but primarily painting and drawing and sometimes mixing different mediums, such as watercolour and ink, or charcoal and wax.
She finds watercolour is the most challenging vehicle.
It is an ideal medium for capturing translucent light in sky land or water, inspired by the beautiful surroundings of Nelson Bay.
Ms Clarke has exhibited in solo and mixed shows for the last 30 years. She has an advanced diploma in Fine Art from Newcastle Art School and a degree in Fine Art from Newcastle University.
She has won a number of art prizes over the years and is published in International Contemporary Artists Vol IX and X.
Ms Clarke tutors at Maitland Regional Art Gallery and conducts regular workshops at Port Stephens Community Art Centre.
The current exhibition at Port Stephens Community Art Centre is called Summertime Blues and Holiday Jewels. It runs until March 14.
Admission is free. Browse the large Gallery and enjoy the Garden Cafe on the weekend, 10am to 2.30pm.
Judy Warren is the art centre's feature artist until March 14.
Ms Warren was born and raised in Cronulla. After schooling, she completed her nursing degree at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Sydney.
She then moved to the country where she married, raised a family and did a degree in horticulture. From there she moved to Avalon, remarried and in retirement moved to Port Stephens.
Besides art her other passion is travel.
Ms Warren's work depicts some of the wonderful experiences found on her travels.
"I have always loved art in all its forms. Being a member of the Port Stephens Community Arts Centre has given me the confidence to explore my artistic ability, a facet of my life that I truly love," she said.
"Experimenting with different mediums and methods is most gratifying."
Ms Warren's nursing background enables her to portray the shape and form for portraiture. Her knowledge of botanicals enhances how she portrays flora. Extensive travels inspire the balance of her works.
Judy has attended many workshops at the arts centre where she has have developed her style in watercolour, acrylics and the application of soft pastels.
