St Michael’s school community epitomises this year's theme with their school motto; 'We Belong to God, family, friends and community, We Learn by expanding our minds, We Serve with others together'.
St Michael’s is a Community Catholic Primary School set on 2.128 hectares with a peaceful bushland setting in Nelson Bay.
Catholic traditions and faith permeate every aspect of daily life at St Michael’s.
The school has a variety of classroom settings, including a learning hub, a creative learning centre, the school hall and spacious playground areas.
It also offers designated senior and junior play areas that are covered and have modern equipment.
St Michael’s is an innovative and inclusive community that works very closely with parents, parish and the wider community.
“We believe, it takes a community to raise a child," St Michael’s principal Helen Bourne said.

While the school is proud of its history and many achievements to date, the staff look to the future and are excited that the school community continues to grow and evolve.
St Michael's aims to meet the diverse needs of our current generation of young people and to engage in their changing and often challenging worlds.
St Michael’s is a Gifted Education School with a specialist teacher and has students attending a Virtual Academy with liked minded peers.
Today, with the emphasis on digital technology, the school is working in the area of STEM - offering lessons and activities with coding and robotics.
The students also have the opportunity to participate in a variety of groups during lunchtimes, such as; Lego, Games, Gardening, Art and Craft, Mini Vinnies.
With a particular focus on developing an innovative and creative learning experience and environment for students, St Michael’s is well placed to look ahead with hope and confidence - to be able to meet the needs of future generations of students for many years to come.
“We were very proud and excited to celebrate Catholic Schools Week with other Catholic Schools across New South Wales and the ACT”, said Ms Bourne.
