Following the success of my books for kids “Stinkpot” and “Clarabelle”, I am in the process of writing number three which I am planning to release sometime in October.

The book will be called “Kerosine Tin Jim – The Man who Loved an Island”.
Pioneering families and older residents of the area, particularly fishermen and lobstermen, will know that the book refers to a legendary character, Dimitrios Georgis Karageorgis, who lived and fished on Broughton Island for 49 years before returning to Nelson Bay where he passed away in the early 1970s.
A very popular, well respected member of the local community, “Jimmy” arrived from Greece in his early teenage years around the time of WW1 and adopted Port Stephens as his home.
Unfortunately, I never had the opportunity to meet Jim so I am asking those who did know him to forward any snippets of information, funny stories, photographs - anything at all that could make its way into the book.
Please send by email stinkerfishing@yahoo.com.au If you are like me you may need some help from the grandchildren.
Great to learn that the Council will be adopting the compulsory wearing of life jackets for rock fishermen.
More next week.
