Last year MarketPlace along with businesses customers and our local police raised over $5600 within seven hours for this event and we hope to better this amount this year.
This event has taken place at MarketPlace now for more than six years with a great amount of money being raised each year for the Leukaemia Foundation - all thanks to our local community. Our record for this event was in 2015 with $11,000 raised in seven hours.
This just shows what a great community we have.
Fundraising is so important to our local area to help keep transport cars on the road for patients, the upkeep of the home near the hospital for families to stay, at no charge, while loved ones are having treatment and for the research to try and stop cancer.
As we know, so many have been touched by a form of cancer be it ourselves, family, friends or work colleagues. Cancer is something that changes people lives being the person with it or the loved ones around them or friends.
We can all show our support and make a difference on Thursday, March 14 and colour our hair for just $5 or be very brave and shave for $10 or simply just make a donation of any amount it will all help. All donations are tax deductible.
By doing this you will not only show your support but make a difference to helping the Leukaemia Foundation find a cure and assist people with cancer.
MarketPlace Management, Christiane’s Hair Design, Michelle (Nextra), Louise Wilkie of BSassy2 Hair and the Leukaemia Foundation will all be doing the shave and colours on the day so all people will be in good hands. We would also like to make a special mention to Helen Randall of MarketPlace Woolworths who each year does the shave and makes sure collection buckets are at the store so people can make donations during the weeks leading up to the World’s Greatest Shave.
On the day we will also have the Leukaemia Foundation Team with us to talk to people should they require further information on how they can support or help someone they may know that needs assistance.
Let’s be brave together and make a difference.
