Councillors approved financial assistance requests from Medowie Little Athletics Club, NextGen Academy, Nelson Bay Diggers Bowls Club, Salamander Bay Rotary Club and four residents undertaking tertiary study.
Medowie Little Athletics was granted $500 from the central ward funds to go towards the purchase and installation of a water bubbler and bottle filling station at Kindlebark Oval.
The remaining donations were distributed out of the Mayoral funds.
The not-for-profit NextGen Academy received $1000 to go towards the 2019 Rugby NextGen program.
Nelson Bay Diggers Bowls Club, made up with about 100 members, many of which are veterans, received $500 to help with transportation to other clubs in the district.
Salamander Bay Rotary Club's request for $2500 to put towards its Nelson Bay Road entrance way project was approved.
Georgia Casumaro, Matthew Peacock, Connor McElwain and Eamonn Cullen, who are each undertaking study at university and TAFE in 2019, were each granted $500 to assist with academic costs.
