ELECTION: The reported Liberal canidate for Paterson Sachin Joshi with NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian.

The Liberal Party has endorsed Maitland resident Sachin Joshi as the candidate for Paterson at the upcoming federal election.

The seat is held by Labor's Meryl Swanson, with a 10.5 per cent majority.

Liberal Bob Baldwin had held the seat since 2001 but he did not contest the 2016 election after a redistribution cut the Liberal's margin from 9.8 per cent to just 1.3 per cent.

According to his Facebook posts, Mr Joshi says he loves living in Maitland with his family and that he is passionate about serving the community.

He says that he would be working hard as part of the Scott Morrison team to deliver a stronger economy and secure future.

Mr Joshi says that he is keen to make a contribution to the community and to the people of Paterson.

A date for the federal election in the coming days.
