More than two years after the tragic death from breast cancer of the group's founder Sarah Litten, the legacy of the Anna Bay mother-of-four continues stronger than ever.
Sarah's husband Andy Litten and three daughters Kempsey, Albany and Brooklyn all sit on the committee, generously volunteering their time to continue the good work from previous members and to ensure a viable future for the non-for-profit charitable organisation.
The group conducts a number of fundraising events throughout the year, the next being a movie night on Thursday, May 9, at Nelson Bay Cinema complex starting at 6.30pm.
Tickets are $25 which includes a glass of champagne on arrival, canapes and a ticket to the screening of the movie 'Poms'.
"All proceeds from fundraisers go back into the local community, supporting families with cancer in areas such as transport, child care, and help around the home with cleaning, gardening, cooking, etc," Mr Litten said.
"We can also provide families with a range of resources and information, both in print and online."
Mr Litten said that the support group worked very closely with Cancer Council Australia and the Tomaree men's cancer support group.
Morning teas are held on the first Tuesday of each month at the Nelson Bay Golf Club from 10.30am and membership is just $5 per annum.
Tickets for the movie 'Poms' can be purchased from the Greater Bank at Salamander Bay or Nelson Bay, at Soldiers Point Public School, by phoning 0427 767 388 or email at pswcsg@yahoo.com.au.
