The Bomboras were always in control and enjoyed a handy 18-6 lead at half time thanks to the hard-working forward pack that rumbled up the middle, led by co-coach Bo Earl, Todd Doro and Nathan Dover.
This allowed clever half Evander Waitoa to engineer plenty of attacking raids on the opposition.
Coach Cameron Scully rates Waitoa highly, saying: "His talk and direction has been outstanding".
The former Wellington, New Zealand rugby league player spent several seasons with the West Tigers and Asquith Leagues clubs before moving to Fingal Bay.
The young guns in the team were amongst the try scorers with Billy Rae scoring two and flying winger Dane Carney one. Carney and Waitoa shared the players award.
The game was wrapped up in the second half with veterans Doro and Jarrad Diemar crossing for four pointers.
The Bay were down on troops but the festival-goers are back for selection this week for the away game to Shortland.
The Fingal ladies tag team went down to University 22-6. Best in a beaten side were sisters Bec and Victoria Hawthorn.
Mallabula Rugby League Club continued on their winning way with a try on the final siren to defeat Morpeth 42-36 at Mallabula Oval.
The game produced plenty of free-flowing footy with defence not a priority on the day.
Centre Rob Chaffey scored the match-winning try. Busy back rower Hayden Thompson scored three tries in a man of the match performance.
Once again the Bula boys' back line showed touches of class with the half back Josh Daniels and fullback Mitch Simmington creating plenty of flair.
The Panthers are away to the Budgewoi Bulldogs next week end.
The Mallabula ladies tag team went down to Tea Gardens 28-8 with half back Emma Rimmer picking up the players' player and coaches' awards for her efforts during the game.
Raymond Terrace Rugby League Club lost 19-18 in a nail-biter to Abermain who snapped a field goal on full-time to claim the competition points.
Coach Brooke Roach was pleased with the improvement shown by his team in recent weeks and made a solid contribution himself with a sizzling 90 metre run down the sideline that resulted in a try.
The Terrace bookends, Steven Soper and Reagan Hunter, worked hard in the middle with half-back Jack Beverly very sharp in attack.
First-gamer, back-rower Neil Priestly was strong off the bench.
The Terrace head for Gloucester this Sunday on a tough road trip.
Nelson Bay Sharks ladies tag team continue to be competitive in the Newcastle competition but went down to Maitland 14-0 at Maitland Sportsground on the weekend.
The Sharks trailed 14 -0 at halftime and kept the Pickers scoreless in the second half.
Emma Cram was a constant threat in attack with strong performances also coming from Haley Dews, Maddison Brennan and Reagan McIllwain.
Brie Carter was the players' player.
The Sharks host Central at Salamander Sports Complex this Saturday. Kick off is at 10am.
