Port Stephens Council last week approved a 38.4 metre high telecommunications tower in the Leisure Way carpark (near the rugby league fields, swim and bowling centres).
The proposal would provide mobile phone, wireless broadband and data services and in addition to the tower, the proposal includes the installation of telecommunication panel antennas, remote radio units, outdoor equipment, cabinets and ancillary equipment associated with its on-going operation.
It will service both Optus and Telstra outlets.
A council report stated that there were no submissions received during a public exhibition period of 14 days between November 22 and December 6 last year.
