Josh Ackland has become the first Australian to qualify for the FootGolf Asia Cup, set to be held in Salamander Bay in November, after winning the stage six men's division in the Australian Open FootGolf Series at the weekend.

Held at Horizons Golf Resort on May 18-19, the Australian series was contested by FootGolf players from Sydney, Queensland, Central Coast, Port Stephens and Japan.
Ackland, from Sydney, is currently ranked number one for FootGolf in Australia.
He played an exceptional round in the Bay on the weekend, even setting the course record on day one. Ackland's score (-14) included a remarkable (-11) on day one.
Makoto Washitake, Kazumi Tomizawa, Shizuka Nishibata, Tsubasa Yasumura, Japanese FootGolf professionals, made the trip to Port Stephens to specifically to get a feel for the Asia Cup host course.
In the general category, Tomizawa (-10) was runner-up followed by Steve Senyard (-4), Yasumura (-2) and Lucio Fiorini (-2).
Nishibata won the women's category (-5). Port Stephens player Bec Bellamy placed third.
Lorenzo Di Gesu and Andrew Fenech claimed the top two spots in the seniors category.
This open series has 14 stages where players compete for points which go towards their world ranking as well as qualification for tournaments such as the Asia Cup, which will be held at Horizons November 18-22.
