The Hunter Region Sporting Hall of Fame, coordinated by the academy, is made up of more than 300 top athletes who have represented Australia or competed in an international tournament that were born or played in the Hunter region at the junior or senior level.

"The Hunter Academy are very excited to yet again host the Hunter Region Sporting Hall of Fame," Brett O'Farrell, chief executive officer of the Hunter Academy, said.

"It is a great chance to recognise and celebrate the careers of athletes in the Hunter Region with their family and friends, and to honour the impact that sport has on our region."

Last year 10 athletes were recognised and inducted into the Hall of Fame. They were:

Nominations are open until Monday, June 10.

An induction ceremony will be held on Thursday, August 8 at Newcastle Cruising Yacht Club.
