In 1993 Jason had a fall which left him confined to a wheelchair as a paraplegic. For most people this would have been a major setback, but Jason saw it as a life challenge.
Nine years ago he discovered sailing, his life took a new path, one which he has never regretted personally or professionally.
Jason not only is a qualified Australia Sailing Instructor but is an executive assistant to Sailability NSW, an inclusive Australia wide program which enables the disadvantaged, autistic and disabled people a chance to sail.
This unique program is one of many Australia wide. One of which is at the Grahamstown Aquatic Club of which he also is a secretary and a sailing instructor.
Mentoring school groups is also part of his volunteer work which encourages children on how to pursue their dreams and achieve great things. This he does with the schools locally.
But it's his sailing career that takes precedence, it has seen him compete not only in state and national competitions throughout Australia but also overseas in the world championships.
He was even recently chosen to vie for selection for the Australian Paralympic Squad.
