Spokesperson Fran Corner said that association members had not wasted any time and were in discussion with Port Stephens Council to find a suitable space where the much-needed exercise equipment could be installed.
"At this stage there are two options - one at Tanilba Park and one [the association's preferred venue] at Peace Park in the vicinity of the playground and toilet block," Ms Corner said.
"Currently, people on the Tilligerry peninsula have to drive over 50km to Nelson Bay to utilise exercise equipment. This is a fantastic facility for people of all ages and from all walks of life, and we want to particularly target those people don't exercise enough."
The equipment will be fitted by a combination of contractor and council staff providing safe fall.
The $25,000 funding was approved under the Sport Australia's Move It - Community Sport Infrastructure grant program and was endorsed by Liberal candidate for Paterson Sachin Joshi during the federal election campaign.
"The investment has many benefits including improved physical and mental health and greater community connection," Mr Joshi said.
Jan James, from Lemon Tree Passage, said she wanted to pay gratitude to the community for doing the hard yards in putting together a successful application. "This is a wonderful asset for the whole community."
Meanwhile, following the IPART's rejection of the Special Rate Variation, Ms Corner has called on Port Stephens Council to implement a new infrastructure plan which prioritises each ward's list of projects.
