Police are appealing for the public's assistance in locating a man alleged to have been involved in a car crash and attempted car theft in Salt Ash.

The call for the public's help and for dashcam footage comes as Port Stephens-Hunter Police District officers investigate a crash between two cars at Salt Ash on Monday, May 27.
About 7.30am a Suzuki Swift and a Toyota Yaris travelling in opposite directions on Nelson Bay Road collided.
A member of the public stopped to help the occupants of the Suzuki Swift - a male driver and two female passengers.
It is alleged the driver of the Swift approached the car belonging to the man helping them and attempted to leave in it.
The man who stopped to help was able to retrieve his keys.
Police said the male driver of the Swift fled the scene into nearby bushland on foot.
Police attended and searched for the driver but he could not be found.
Police would like to speak to the man who may be able to assist with inquiries.
He is described as being aged about 27 years old, 160 to 165cm tall with a thin build and black hair.
Investigations are continuing.
