So can we allow said councillors to allocate the funding for projects without objections - especially from those who opposed the variation?

As I said previously if we want to live in paradise and enjoy it someone has to pay.

I can't believe so many people do not know of the small community library we have at Lemon Tree Passage.

The building was once the RSL many years ago. The Anglican church held its services there until they had built a church and Nita Benson held art classes there. Of course that was years ago then it became the local library. Just recently it was given a grant and the renovations to the old building are amazing.

There is carpet on the floor, lace curtains at the windows (made by one of the volunteers) new bookshelves and a little nook where we can chat, have a cup of tea or read a magazine. There is also an internet cafe. Many thanks go to Marcia Lancaster for being so diligent in her running of the library and also to Vicky from Raymond Terrace library for her support.

I am very grateful to all the people of Paterson who believed in me and voted for Prime Minister Scott Morrison.

I would like to thank Liberal Party of Australia for trusting and supporting me with this responsibility and Senator Arthur Sinodinos for his help throughout. I also thank my dedicated team of volunteers and behind the scenes supporters, advisers and well-wishers and also to those who disagreed with me at times, as they helped me to see different perspectives. I congratulate Meryl Swanson and also congratulate all candidates for their hard work.

In Paterson, it was always going to be an uphill task. However I am very pleased with the swing I could create by running a tight, six-week, positive, grassroots campaign focused on small business, more jobs, strong economy and franking credits. In my opinion, Australia is built on culture of 'Mateship or Unity' and therefore they voted for the leader who resonates with them, promotes the values they cherish and supports their growth aspirations and rejected the divisive agenda which would create big uncertainty in the country they love.

Australia is a great country. For some, it is a land of enormous opportunity and wealth.

Yet an increasing number of people, including families, are being forced to make agonising financial decisions every day. Decisions like whether to eat or to seek medical help for illness. After paying rent and other bills, they have very little left over to meet basic needs. Many people turn to The Salvation Army for assistance, but our services are continually being stretched, so we rely on donations to help keep our doors open. As we have done for 55 years, The Salvation Army will call on the Australian community to get involved in the annual Red Shield Appeal.

Funds raised from the Red Shield Appeal will allow the Salvos to help support families in crisis, people experiencing homelessness, women and children fleeing domestic violence, break the cycle of drug and alcohol addiction, help troubled youth and provide emergency relief in times of disaster.
