Nelson Bay Croquet Club recently competed in the NSW Golf Croquet State Pennants with its two division three teams placing first and second in the Hunter Region.

For the first time, the Nelson Bay club fielded teams in all three divisions of the state pennants.
The club's division two team ended their pennants campaign third in the region on a countback, behind Chatswood and winner Newcastle NP. The Bay's division one team has yet to play.
Nelson Bay was in a competitive division three field consisting of a total 18 teams from 14 clubs, four zones and 120 players.
Meanwhile, the Bay's division two team was in a field of 21 teams from 17 clubs and four zones consisting of 130 players.
In total, division three teams played 48 Tests and division two 56 Tests between February 20 and May 6.
The Bay's 'L' team qualified to compete in the state pennant's semi finals in Sydney on May 6. They won against Sutherland to go through to the final against Wollongong.
All matches in the final between Nelson Bay and Wollongong went to three games, with total hoops scored in each match differing by only one or two hoops.
Each team had won one singles match each. The score in the doubles match was also one game each. It came down to the final doubles game to decide the winner. The winning hoop was scored by Wollongong.
The division three team was made up of Liz Friend, Barry Elliott, Laurie Lawson, Jan Puckeridge and Pam Dingle. The division two team included Karen Lilly, Peter Gordon, Sandy Tawa, Cheryl Lloyd, David Wilson and Susan Tombs.
