The group will help launch the festival at Nelson Bay Bowling Club on Friday night and will return to the same venue on Saturday for a free show. Friday's festival launch and Mustang's Saturday show will each kick off at 8pm.
Mustang covers hits from Beccy Cole, Dixie Chicks and Shania Twain to name a few, along with some real pub anthems.
"We've got some real rock favorites like Bad Mooning Rising, Proud Mary, Long Train Running and China Grove but we're not your typical pub band," lead singer Trish Hart said.
"We're introducing people to some songs they might not know."
Hart is joined on stage with Grahame Griffin (bass), Dick Ayre (fiddle), Rob Godwin (lead guitar), Rick Rhodes (drums) and Terry Helliker (keys).
Along with Mustang, there will be plenty of local talent to see at the festival launch on Friday including a line dancing demonstration by the Bay Bootscooters, a performance by young country music stars Brooke and Sam Thompson and from the award-winning Lee J Collier.
Following her popular first songwriters in the round event at last year's festival, Collier is set to host another at Nelson Bay Bowling Club this year, on Sunday from 2pm.
Ken and Jo Foote from Footloose Studios in Lemon Tree Passage will host an artists showcase at Broughtons at the Bay from 7pm.
