Dwayne Vaggs, a member of the Malabulla Panthers junior league club, will represent Port Stephens in the championships to take place from June 18 to 20 at St John Oval, Charlestown.
Marc Gattenhof, the Hunter rugby league convener for the under 11s carnival and a teacher at Tanilba Bay Public School, described Dwayne as "a natural athlete" with plenty of promise.
"Dwayne only started playing rugby league last year and in that time he has demonstrated great sportsmanship on the field and has natural sporting ability," Mr Gattenhof said.
"The whole district is very proud of Dwayne's achievements and wish him well at the carnival."
Dwayne is a proud Aboriginal who represents his people, Birri Gubba, from Queensland. The tournament at Charlestown is expected to feature some of the best under 11 players in NSW.
