McFadyen, 10, from Mallabula, was part of the Northern NSW Newcastle SAP squad that won the 11 years' State SAP Championships in Coffs Harbour during the long weekend.
The three day tournament was played at the multi-million dollar upgraded C.ex International Stadium. With the winning teams based off points, the final day of matches had the crowds on edge as tournament leaders played off for the top position on the ladder.
A tight game played between NNSWF Select SAP and NNSWF Newcastle SAP in the 11 years' tournament saw Newcastle secure a victory of 1 nil. It was McFadyen who scored the goal.
NNSWF technical advisor Leo Bertos stressed the importance of providing young, talented players the opportunity to attend this tournament and similar events.
"It is vital for the development of NNSW's talented football players to be afforded opportunities to compete at events such as the... State SAP Championships, and we need to think of more ways we can increase these opportunities," he said.
"The NNSWF technical group and I found it very interesting to see how players performed during the tournament while managing an added pressure that the usual SAP environment does not have.
"I witnessed a lot of talented players struggle to perform at their expected level due to not being able to handle this pressure."
