About 120 teachers from 12 Port Stephens schools converged in Raymond Terrace to meet a teaching idol - Eddie Woo.
Mr Woo is a mathematics teacher at Cherrybrook Technology High School in Sydney. But he is perhaps best known for his YouTube videos which encourage mathematics learning.
Mr Woo is also known for his bright personality, which he used to motivate the Port's teachers during a presentation at Irrawang High School on June 5.
"It is a great privilege to have Eddie Woo present a keynote to staff from our vast Port Stephens network of schools," Liana Gill, one of Irrawang High School's deputy principals, said.
"As we move toward a future focused learning environment, Eddie is a great advocate and motivator, encouraging innovative and dynamic teaching.
"His dedication to nurturing each and every student is deeply aligned to our school philosophy."
Mr Woo said his presentation to the teachers was focused on the topic of 're-imagining' the way they teach mathematics to students, and do his part to "re-energise" the group.
"I have found that more often that not when people say they don't like mathematics it is because of the way they were taught," he said.
"Mathematics seems so black and white. But it doesn't have to be."
